Yes, we have specific needs you can address with your donation. Here are some examples:

  • Community Services – Eureka Kids gets calls for help year round. Quite often calls come for energy assistance in off months. Eureka Kids is in need of financial contributions for these services.

  • Youth Center – Eureka Kids operates a very frugal and productive program that provides afterschool programs to youth ages 5-18 in our commuting area. Programs range from homework help and tutoring to health and nutrition, test prep, technology and Service learning. Due to very limited funds, Eurek a Kids often needs to raise 300 – 400 per youth each year. This money goes into direct program services to make sure the needs of our youth are when each and every day afterschool and during school breaks.

  • Kids Café Eureka Kids operates Northwest Arkansas only Kids Café. Last year we served close to 10,000 meals to youth. We also provide a backpack program each weekend. This program provides food that can be easily prepared and will help fight insecurity among our youth when we are closed.

8. How do I determine that Eureka Kids is what it says it is?
There are several ways to learn about a specific non-profit:

  • First, non-profits are required to submit a 990 report to the IRS if they have an annual budget of over 25,000.00 Effective 2008 all organization must submit regardless of budget. Guidestar, a non-profit website offers a collection of information on more than 1.5M charities. Go to www.guidestar.org for more information.
  • Second, Reports, brochures, audits, etc, can be helpful in determining what a non-profit is about.
  • Third, contact the Arkansas Attorney General office who maintains information on Arkansas non-profits and on any complaints received.
  • Fourth, contact local United Way offices. Unless the non-profit in question is new grass roots group, a United Way office would have some information on local non-profits. In Northwest Arkansas, go to www.unitedwaynwa.org. Then look for 'Agencies and Programs'. There is an A to Z listing of agencies in the area that United Way is working with.
  • Fifth, go on line to www.irs.gov and look in the left column, "Search for Charities", click. Publication 78, Cumulative List of Organizations described in Section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, is a list of organizations eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions, will be listed.
